How much does a coworking space cost in Kathmandu? (2026)

Coworking prices in Kathmandu vary a lot, and the headline number rarely tells you what you actually get. Here's what to expect in 2026 and the costs people forget to count.

Typical price ranges

Based on publicly listed rates across the valley (always confirm with the space, since prices change often):

  • Day pass: roughly रू 250 – 800. Cheaper passes are usually café-style seating without a power or internet backup.
  • Monthly hot desk: roughly रू 4,000 – 10,000.
  • Dedicated desk: roughly रू 6,000 – 12,000 a month.
  • Private office for 2–4 people: roughly रू 24,000 – 40,000+ a month.
  • International serviced offices (e.g. Regus): priced in their own tiers, typically well above local spaces.

What the price should include

In Nepal, the cheapest desk is often the most expensive once you count lost hours. Before comparing numbers, check whether these are included:

  • Power backup that runs your desk, not just the lights. A generator beats a small UPS during long outages.
  • A second internet line from a different ISP, so one fibre cut doesn't end your day.
  • A quiet room for calls, so you're not taking client calls in a stairwell.
  • Ergonomics: a proper chair and ideally an external monitor.
  • Tea, coffee and access to food, so you don't lose an hour every lunch.
  • Parking, which matters a lot in Kathmandu.
  • Taxes. Some quotes add VAT on top; others include it.

A worked example: Engineer in Residence

Engineer in Residence in Balkhu publishes its rates, including tax: a day pass is रू 799, monthly membership is रू 10,000, and three months is रू 22,500 (about रू 250 a day).

That price includes dual fibre (Subisu 650 Mbps with a Vianet 600 Mbps backup), a generator, an external monitor and ergonomic chair at every desk, a bookable meeting room, free coffee, secure storage and parking, and it's open seven days a week.

Not sure yet? Engineer in Residence takes the day pass off your first month if you join within 7 days, so a trial day costs nothing extra.

How to save money

  • Commit for 3 months once you've found a space you like; multi-month plans are usually 20–25% cheaper.
  • Try a day pass before paying for a month.
  • Pick a space close to home. Daily ride-hailing across Kathmandu can cost more than the desk.
  • Ask whether the space accepts eSewa, Khalti or Fonepay. It saves trips to the ATM.
